Conwy Valley
The river Conwy winds its way northward down a broad valley to an estuary guarded by a medieval fortress. To the west the Conwy Falls heads a steep wooded valley.
Spanning the river is the market town of Llanrwst's 17th century, three arched bridge built by Inigo Jones. Right down to the river's confluence with the Irish Sea the valley's complex of small fields and woods threaded by narrow lanes provides ample opportunity for birdwatching, walking, fishing and pony trekking.
Regarded as among the finest in Britain, Bodnant Gardens near Eglwysbach boasts broad Italianate terraces, formal lily ponds and stunning azaleas, all looking towards the mountains of Snowdonia.
