Question: Do you supply insurance?
No, our bookings are not covered by insurance, so we strongly recommend that you take out holiday cancellation insurance. Many banks and the Post Office offer this insurance, as do J L Morris Ltd, (www.jlmorris.co.uk ) and other insurance companies.
Question: What if we have to cancel?
Once a booking is confirmed you are responsible for the balance payment. If you have to cancel for any reason please let us know so we can discuss your options. It may be possible to transfer the booking to other dates, for example. We recommend that you take out holiday insurance to cover possible cancellation.
Question: What is the 'seasonal supplement'?
From mid September to mid May, some properties that include fuel costs in their weekly tariff during the summer, levy a fixed charge for heating in addition to the weekly tariff. Where this is the case it is clearly stated in the property description as seasonal supplement of £…... So please remember to add this cost to the tariff shown in the ‘calculator’ or on the Tariff page.
(Unfortunately this cannot be included in the weekly price as the supplement varies from property to property within the same price band.)
Question: What is the booking fee?
As with all businesses, we unfortunately have overhead costs that have to be met. A booking fee of £15 is charged on all bookings in order to help cover these costs. After your first three bookings we will waive this fee, in appreciation of your loyalty to NWHC&F - so please ensure you let us know if you move or change your name.
Question: What's Included?
Unless otherwise stated, each cottage has car parking, a full sized cooker, fridge, kettle, iron and colour television. Beds will be made up with fresh linen. Towels are not supplied unless mentioned in the description.
Question: Are short breaks available?
Short Breaks are available from October to March (except over Bank Holidays and during school holidays) in many properties and can be booked up to two months in advance. At other times of the year short breaks may be accepted at the last minute, please call for prices.
Question: My chosen property has a Friday change, how do I work out the price?
For all properties with a Friday change, the price that applies is that quoted for the following Saturday. eg week commencing June 20th, A tariff, price £515, Friday change property, this price applies for bookings commencing June 19th
Question: Can we bring an extra person?
The details of each property show how many people can sleep there. Unfortunately it is not possible to book for more than this number as the house insurance would be affected. You may, of course, invite friends to join you during the day.
Question: Will there be parking?
Unless stated in the description, each property has off-road parking. In a few instances this is not immediately outside the property, but you will always be able to stop close to the property to unload. In a few, mainly town, properties parking is on the road outside or near the house.
Question: When can we arrive and when do we have to leave?
You can arrive at your holiday home any time after 15.00hrs (3.00pm). On departure day you must leave by 10.00hrs (10.00am). These times are important so the owners have sufficient time between bookings to change beds and prepare for the next guests.
Question: What if we want to stay longer?
If your chosen property is not booked for the week following your booking you can usually extend your booking by as many days as you wish. During the summer we would not be able to add days until the last minute, as we do try to fill full weeks when ever we can. In the winter we may be able to be more flexible.
Question: What do we need to bring?
Most things should be supplied but just In case
Tea towel
Toilet roll
Washing up liquid
A Torch in case you arrive after dark
Some cash as not all of the small local or farm shops will accept cards.
Question: What dates can we book for Christmas or New Year?
Normal dates for Christmas and New Year bookings are December 22-29 and December 29-January 5 respectively, which places the main holiday days in the centre of the week. Other dates may be accepted, but any booking covering the Bank Holidays will be charged at the holiday price, regardless of start date.
Question: Where can I go fishing?
There are a great many excellent fishing spots throughout North Wales, some of which are literally on the doorstep of some of our properties. The best source of information (apart from local knowledge) is from the Environment Agency for Wales. The Environment Agency publish this useful booklet which is available to Download: Fishing in North Wales (PDF, 5.2 MB)
