The town of Caernarfon is located on the shore of the Menai Strait looking out to Anglesey. Caernarfon castle is the largest and most complete in the area and definitely worth visiting. After exploring this historic town there's plenty to see in the local area with easy access into Snowdonia and the Llyn Peninsula. The Ffestiniog and Highland Railways runs a narrow gauge steam train from Caernarfon to Porthmadog and is an excellent way to see the beauty of the local area.
