Are you looking for a day out with a bit of a difference? Then look no further – the Harlequin Puppet Theatre in Colwyn Bay is about as different as they come, seeing as it is the only purpose-built puppet theatre in all of the British Isles!

The theatre was built in 1958, and has been delighting children (and adults!) of all ages for almost six decades now. It is a great day out, something to keep the kids entertained throughout those long summer holidays – especially as there is a different production for each half-term break. That lets you come back each holiday, safe in the knowledge that you’ll be getting a new experience each time.

As well as the main offering, each show also features the wonderful magic show “Mr Bimbamboozle and His Magic Tricks”, which features plenty of audience participation and fun and games.

Lastly, every performance finishes up with the “Marionette Cabaret”. This wonderful segment takes the kids behind the curtain, so to speak, showing them exactly how the puppets and marionettes work, with the cast showing how the strings are pulled.

Location

The Harlequin Puppet Theatre is located on the Rhos-on-Sea promenade. Take exits for Rhos-on-Sea from the A55. Parking on the promenade is free.

Attraction Image Conwy Castle

Conwy Castle is easily the most spectacular of all the castles in North Wales (and cost the most to build, too!). The castle was built for Edward I by Master James of St George, and is one of the most impressive surviving medieval fortifications in Britain.

Attraction Image Conwy Town Walls

The town walls of Conwy are a major tourist attraction for the town, and with good reason: they are regarded as one of the most impressive and most intact walled circuits in all of Europe. Dating back to the late 13th century, they are as old as the town itself, and constructed by Edward I to pair with the equally impressive Conwy Castle, they form a foreboding defensive installation.
