You will find one of the best beaches on the Isle of Anglesey just a short walk from Holyhead – the beach of Trearddur Bay is a massive one, with pure golden sands stretching on and on.

In terms of things to do, there is plenty of choice for you here: for fans of water sports, there are opportunities for kayaking and canoeing, jet skiing, surfing and wind surfing, and even sailing. There is also a football pitch just across from the beach, as well as two separate golf courses overlooking the sands.

Children will love the play area, while history buffs may be more interested in what was excavated from the beach in 2003 – it was the site of an ancient burial ground, with one of only two surviving tombs in the area.

There is a pub nearby, should you need a bite to eat after a day at the sea, as well as toilet facilities by the beach. And if you are looking for a unique experience with some fantastic views, the close-by South Stack Lighthouse will be well worth your time: take the 400 steps down to the island to take in the great panorama.
