When you grow up, you always fondly look back on those pantomime trips you would take as a child. There’s nothing quite like that Christmas spirit you feel as soon as the show is about to start and you hear “he’s behind you” – regardless of whether it is a festive production or not.
This year, as ever, there are some fantastic pantomimes showing in North Wales. Here’s your quick guide to Christmas 2016 pantomimes…
Aladdin at Venue Cymru
Venue Cymru is the largest theatre in North Wales, and attracts stars from around the country! This year, Welsh legend Gareth Thomas will be playing Aladdin, this is a show definitely not to be missed. Join Aladdin, Wishee Washee and widow Twankey for a journey on a flying carpet and a guaranteed lamp full of laughs!
Aladdin is on throughout December (10th-31st). There is also a relaxed performance on 29th December that welcomes people with learning disabilities, Down’s Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Conditions or sensory & communication disorders.
Venue Cymru is situated in Llandudno and makes for a spectacular New Year or a wonderfully festive destination on the lead up to Christmas. Why not spend a weekend enjoying all Llandudno has to offer wrapped up in as many layers as possible?
Peter Pan at Rhyl Pavilion
Rhyl Pavilion can be found on the main promenade and plays host to a range of shows such as ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicoloured Dreamcoat’ throughout the year, but it is particularly well known for its spectacular pantomimes during Christmas time!
This year, the classic ‘Peter Pan’ will be running from Friday 9th December until Saturday 7th January, with host stars such as Mark Little, known for playing the part of Joe Mangel in Neighbours, playing Captain Hook and even Balamory favourite Juliet Cadzow playing Mrs Darling. A star-studded cast full of adult & childhood favourites!
Aladdin Wok ‘n’ Roll Panto at Theatr Clwyd
Visit Theatre Clywd this Christmas to enjoy a wok ‘n’ roll spin on the classic story of Aladdin! With classic rock and soul songs including ‘I’m a Believer’ and classic Jackson 5 ‘ABC’ you can sing along if you want!
Full of ‘mad gags, shock frocks, knockabout and slapstick’ – it’s the perfect way to get in the Christmas spirit with a good laugh!
