Christmas is just a couple of weeks away so we thought we'd do a quick roundup of what's on around North Wales throughout December. Whether you're planning a day trip or a longer stay, there's loads to see and do to get your firmly in the festive spirit.
Here's 6 unmissable Christmas days-out this month - we're hoping to do them all, how about you?
RSPB Conwy Christmas Trail – Conwy, throughout December
Santa needs your help, kiddiwinks! Naughty reindeer have made off with his red suit! Conwy RSPB has heard reports that it’s on their nature reserve somewhere. There's a prize for those who find those pesky reindeer and save Christmas! Normal admission charges apply, Santa trail activity sheets are £1 each.
Bodnant Garden Elves Workshop - Tal-y-Cafn, various dates December
A seasonal stroll through Bodnant Garden in winter is something special, especially if there's snow (it's on the ground as we write). But there's lots more to see and do at Bodnant once you've had your fill of stunning vistas (can you ever get enough?).
Head down to the Old Mill where the kids can join in with Christmas crafts and parents can enjoy a warming drink around an open fire. Afterwards why not meet Santa at the Bodnant Garden Centre? Normal admission charges apply, a visit to Santa is £3 per child.
Peter Pan - Venue Cymru, Llandudno, December 9-31
For many, it just isn't Christmas without a trip to the panto and we've heard that if you take the second star on the right you might just see Peter Pan swooping into town! Join Peter Pan and the Lost Boys as they do battle with the sinister Captain Hook, played by Ryan Thomas from Corrie! Popular panto star Andy Jones returns as the dame, Mrs Smee, and theatre actress Pauline Daniels is playing Mimi the Mermaid. See website for prices and to book.
Llechwedd Slate Caverns Winter Walking Tours - Blaenau Ffestiniog, various dates over winter months
This winter, Walking Tours replace the regular Deep Mine Tour as Llechwedd's iconic underground train undergoes essential maintenance and repair. Wrap up warm and take a walk in the dark to experience what it was really like to live and work below ground. See website for prices and to book.
Santa Trains - Welsh Highland Railway, various dates December
North Wales' premier narrow gauge railway welcomes Santa and his elves aboard for a scenic trip into the mountains of Snowdonia. The trains leave from Porthmadog or Dinas near Caernarfon and, while kids meet the Man In Red, parents can enjoy the view and a little grown-up treat of sherry and a mince pie.
These trains are popular every year and get booked up very quickly so we advise booking in advance to avoid disappointment.
A Penrhyn Christmas - Penrhyn Castle, Bangor, various dates December
Enjoy a Christmas of yesteryear at Penrhyn Castle this December. As well as seasonal music in the Great Hall, there will be wreath making workshops (using all natural decorations from the estate), cookery demonstrations in the Victorian kitchen, crafts for the kids and, of course, Father Christmas will be making an appearance. Normal admission charges apply, wreath making is £3.50 per person.
