Christmas time is the best time to get your gloves and scarf on, wrap up warm and get yourself out and about to take advantage of all the beautiful light displays. North Wales has its fair share of light displays and there’s nothing quite like the fresh, crisp, Welsh air to enjoy them in.

Here is a quick guide to some of the best Christmas light displays North Wales has to offer this year:

Conwy County

Conwy is a great day out; not only can you visit a castle and a beach in this wonderful town but Conwy County embraces the festive spirit like no other.

If there’s one thing Rhos-on-Sea does well, it’s Christmas. With beautiful lights up and down the central promenade, reflecting off the waters, it truly is a magical experience.  If you visit Rhos-on-Sea this Christmas time, you will also see the St David’s Hospice Rotary Tree of Lights; a poignant reminder of those we have lost. It also is a great way to celebrate those who have been born – a light for every life, whether present or not.

The Holywell Christmas lights are often switched on by someone close to the town. In 2013 they were switched on by Holywell born Britain’s Got Talent stars, Richard and Adam, and this year, local school children did the honours. Described as a ‘magical moment’, Holywell is definitely a great place to see some great Christmas lights this year.

During the Christmas season, Rhyl is a plethora of colours and the ultimate festive location. Again, as a seaside town the crisp air makes it feel especially Christmassy. The light switch on in Rhyl was quite an event with this year’s switch on including Emmerdale Star Adam Thomas, and the mayor of Rhyl, Barry Mellor. From giant Christmas trees, to lights on the central clock tower welcoming people to the town, seeing Rhyl’s Christmas lights are worth a trip.

Bangor has an array of Christmas light displays for you to see. Head to Bangor to explore the Christmas lights throughout the town from the central display by the town’s beautiful clock tower to the old Town Hall, where the lights are switched on from.

This is just a few locations where you can view some beautiful Christmas lights in North Wales; know of any more? Why not leave a comment!
