Location

Swn y Cnocell apartment is located on the former Vaynol Park, a grand estate with connections to the industrial heritage of North Wales. As you enter the estate through the impressive gateway, you pass Bryntirion Lodge (the former gatehouse which is also available to let), then follow the driveway through the wild deer woodland, where you may hear the sound of the woodpecker after which the apartment is named. Part of the surrounding land is owned by the National Trust, which provides the opportunity for some lovely walks along the waterside of the Menai Strait looking over towards Anglesey. The estate lies on the north coast of Wales, just outside the small coastal village of Y Felinheli (Port Dinorwic), which looks out over the Menai strait towards Anglesey. Port Dinorwic sits between the University City of Bangor and the Royal Town of Caernarfon, home to the Welsh Highland Steam Railway and one of the best-preserved castles in Wales. Further afield, though only a few minutes by car, is the famous Zip World in Bethesda, the Snowdonia National Park, Surf Snowdonia, the fabulous isle of Anglesey, the Victorian resort town of Llandudno and much more.
