Go to the Machynlleth Town Market

The weekly Machynlleth Market is a great way to get a real sense of the town and its people. You’ll find everything from local produce, home-made crafts as well as hoover parts and jewellery, all under the watchful gaze of the town's Victorian clock. It happens every Wednesday, and is a great way to get to know the town if you're visiting for the first time with so many locals on stalls to talk to.

Navigate through King Arthur's Labyrinth in Corris

Corris, near Machynlleth, is a unique spot in Wales where North and Mid Wales meet, with surrounding towns of Barmouth, Tywyn and Aberdyfi all nearby. Here you can visit us to take part in King Arthur's Labyrinth, an underground storytelling experience that explores the heritage of Wales, the legend of Arthur and the dragons of our nation as Wales' underground mysteries await you. Here you will travel through a magical waterfall and down into the mountains of South Eryri (Southern Snowdonia) on this outing. Visit the Museum of Modern Art, Machynlleth

If you’re a fan of contemporary art and design, you won’t want to miss the Museum of Modern Art, Machynlleth. This museum is home to more than 4,000 pieces of modern and contemporary art from all over the world. However, unlike many museums, this one doesn’t have a permanent collection – every year, the curators select a new exhibition to showcase the best of modern art from the 20th to 21st century. MOMA Machynlleth also put on concerts, talks, plays and literature events in their dedicated concert venue, and try if you can to take in the 'Gŵyl Machynlleth Festival', an annual celebration of Welsh and international music and culture.

Explore the Owain Glyndŵr Centre

If you’re interested in history, you’ll love exploring the Owain Glyndŵr Centre. This cultural hub is home to a wide range of exhibitions, events, and activities that explore the history of the Welsh people and their rich culture. Here, you can learn all about the rise of the Welsh language, discover more about some of the most famous Welsh people in history, and get a glimpse into Welsh culture and heritage. Take in the Machynlleth Comedy Festival

If you’re in the area in late April, you won’t want to miss the Machynlleth Comedy Festival – one of the most popular events in town! This annual festival takes place over a week and brings together comedy fans from all over the world. You’ll have the chance to see the best stand-up comedians, improv artists, and sketch groups on the circuit perform at one of the two main venues in town. You can also attend workshops, comedy-themed activities and events, and of course, visit the comedy festival shop! So, if you’re a comedy fan, make sure you mark this event on your calendar!
