Deganwy is a lovely little village in a prime location: just nestled in between the coastal resort town of Llandudno and the historic walled town of Conwy. Sitting on the banks of the Conwy River, it is a fantastic place to visit for a day – explore the village at your leisure, while enjoying the incredible views of the sea, of the estuary and of Conwy Castle.

Deganwy also has a wonderful beach. The south end is a mix of shingle and sand becoming a completly sand as you move northwards. It is one of the few beaches on the North Wales coast that faces south west, meaning it is a bit of a suntrap, ensuring that you will always be able to make the most of the sunny weather.

The beach is a long, sandy one, and is completely dog friendly, meaning that your canine pals can run free up and down the length of the sands at all times of the year. It’s a great place for a walk or a picnic or visit the beachside cafe which is open during the summer.

If you fancy a longer walk, the Wales Coast Path runs along the beach and will lead you right the way to the Great Orme, one of Llandudno’s most popular attractions. From the top of the Great Orme you can enjoy some amazing views, and you (and the dog, provided he or she is on a lead and well-behaved) can relax on the famous tramway on the way back down. Head south down the path and you can walk along the estuary, cross over the river and into walled town of Conwy.

To really enjoy the beach and the local area why not base yourself in one of our holiday cottages in Deganwy? Many are dog friendly too!
