The Spring Steam Gala is one of the biggest events in the Llangollen Railway calendar, and is a fantastic few days for steam train enthusiasts of all ages – or just about anybody with even a passing interest in vintage locomotives!
The main interest will surely be the special visiting locomotives that will be here for the weekend – the 7820 Dinmore Manor, built in Swindon in 1950 and making the trip down from its home at Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway; the GWR Small Prairie 4566, a 92 year old steam train that last visited Llangollen in 1991. It is also hoped that the resident 7822 Foxcote Manor will have completed its major restoration; if so, it will be taking the starring role at the Gala.
The Gala will see steam trains running up and down the nine-mile Llangollen Railway to Corwen, with non-stop expresses, local-stopping passenger trains, and a variety of freight trains to boot. There is also a miniature railway at Carrog, and a narrow gauge railway as well. The event makes for a great day out for people of all ages.
Location
The Llangollen Steam Railway Gala is at the main station in Llangollen. There is disabled parking only at the station.
