With walking trails galore and beaches left right and centre, Anglesey is a four-legged adventurer’s dream.

And for the dog-lovers out there, there’s nothing quite like a coastal or countryside stroll which culminates in a trip to the pub. After all, what’s better than having your pooch by your side and a pint in your hand?

The trouble is, in some regions, it can be pretty tricky to find a pub which actually allows pups. Thankfully, here, there’s no need to terrier yourself up about it (sorry, we had to…) - because as well as being beautifully wild, infused with history and teeming with culture, Anglesey is super dog-friendly.

Next time you’re parched after a salty Welsh coastal stroll, there’s no need to take the little one home.

Read on and discover the most pawsome canine-friendly pubs & cafes in the region:

North Anglesey

The White Eagle, Rhoscolyn

Finish off a trip to the beautiful village of Rhoscolyn by popping into The White Eagle, which boasts a wonderfully welcoming atmosphere and enviable views across Anglesey.

Whether it’s just for a quick drink, a lunchtime sharing platter or a hearty evening meal, this family and dog-friendly bar and pub welcomes all.

Black Lion, Holyhead

The Black Lion, a Grade II listed country inn, has previously changed hands and is now run as a friendly daytime eatery serving up hot food, sandwiches, afternoon teas and lots of cake.

The cosy sunroom is the perfect spot for a bright and cheery lunch no matter what the weather - plus, well-behaved dogs can join in the fun, too.

The Stag Inn, Cemaes Bay

You’ll find the traditional, dog-friendly Stag Inn nestled right at the end of Cemaes high street. Thanks to its hearty grub, vibrant character and sun-trap beer garden, there’s always a great atmosphere.

Dogs are regulars here, too - all the landlords ask is that they’re kept on a lead.

East Anglesey

The Tavern On The Bay, Red Wharf Bay

With panoramic views across Red Wharf Bay and stretching as far as the Great Orme, gastropub The Tavern On The Bay is the perfect place to relax and unwind over a gorgeous Anglesey sunset.

Dogs are welcome to enjoy too, but only on the outside terrace - so for those with four-legged guests, it’s probably best suited to a warm summer’s evening.

Ship Inn, Red Wharf Bay

The Ship Inn describe themselves as “one of those pubs that takes your breath away when it comes into sight” - and we have to say, we totally agree. With a cosy bar, outside picnic tables and a traditional pub restaurant, it’s a great spot for a pint with your pooch.

It’s worth noting that if you’re eating and want to bring your dog, you’ll have to book a table in the snug specifically.

Kinmel Arms, Moelfre

If your dog loves a fuss and a cuddle, they’ll no less than adore the Kinmel Arms. This dog-friendly pub is known to be a canine hotspot - in fact, they declare on their own website that they ‘treat pooches and people in the same way’.

Start with a stroll on Moelfre beach and pop here for a bite to eat later - doggy treats are available on demand!

Ann's Pantry, Moelfre

If you’re in the mood for a homemade scone, an indulgent slice of cake and a cheerful, friendly atmosphere, you’d be hard pressed to find a better option than Ann’s Pantry in Moelfre village.

Interestingly, there’s been a cafe operating in the building under the same name since 1926! Dogs are more than welcome to join in the fun as long as they’re kept on a lead.
