North Wales has its fair share of National Trust buildings and gardens, the perfect way to spend an afternoon with your friends or family, enjoying some spectacular scenery and interesting history.
How many of these National Trust places have you visited? Here are some of our favourites…
Bodnant Garden, Tal y Cafn 
This is undoubtedly the most beautiful garden in North Wales, if not the UK.
Located above the River Conwy, Bodnant Garden spans over 80 acres with beautiful views over Snowdonia and is home to a spectacular range of flowers from countries all over the world including; China, Japan and North America.
The gardens consists of two parts which you can explore throughout the day – whether you begin by touring the hall and terraced gardens with perfectly manicured lawns, or head down towards the River Hiraethlyn, where wild flowers have taken over, Bodnant Garden is one not to be missed!
Tickets cost £7.72 for children and £3.86 for children.
Erddig, Wrexham
Located just outside of Wrexham – Erdigg is a real hidden gem dating back to early 18th century. From the topiary hedges outside of the house, to the long canal leading out of the estate, the gardens are pristine and a great place to spend some time, simply wandering around without a care in the world!
If the weather is a little chilly – Erdigg house itself is stunning. Head inside to visit the state walls complete with unusual tapestries. See the history of Erdigg come to life as you see the servant’s quarters and read stories of the past!
Tickets for the whole house (including gardens) cost £11.25 for adults and £5.60 for children. Family tickets are also available.
Plas Newydd, Anglesey
Plas Newydd is a truly beautiful mansion located on the shores of the Menai Strait. From the military museum, home to relics from the Marquess of Anglesey’s (commander at the Battle of Waterloo) tenure, to the stunning array of hydrangeas which make for picture-perfect scenes – Plas Newydd is a special place to visit.
The best time to visit is at the end of spring/early summer as you can head for the woodland walk, taking you down to the rhododendron garden. Make sure your camera is fully charged!
Tickets for the house and gardens cost £9.80 for adults and £4.90 for children.
Plas Yn Rhiw, Pwllheli
Lovingly restored in 1938, Plas yn Rhiw is a quirky manor house, with views over the idyllic Cardigan Bay.
The best thing about this National Trust building is that whatever the season, there is something a little different but equally as spectacular to see! It’s well worth a visit when you’re in the area.
Tickets for the whole property are £5.20 for adults and £2.60 for children.
Penrhyn Castle, Bangor
Built in the 19th century, Penrhyn is a neo-Norman castle found between Snowdonia and the Menai Strait. Explore the 60 acres of castle grounds and don’t miss the industrial railway museum within a stable block or the a one-ton slate bed made especially for Queen Victoria.
This is a great day out for the whole family and if you get hungry along the way, there is a great cafe selling delicious Welsh produce, as well as a shop selling local crafts and goods – a real must-try!
