North Wales is a great destination for families, whether you want to pop on your hiking boots, get your bikes out of the garage or snuggle up next to a warm fire and watch a film. If cycling is what your family loves, you can enjoy North Wales by bike via a number of safe, family-friendly, bike routes.

Here is a quick guide to some of the best family-friendly bike trails in North Wales:

Bike Trails 1

Lon Eifion trail – Caernarfon

Set in the idyllic Caernarfon, this trail is great for children of all ages due to the flat terrain. Lon Eifion is known for the stunning views of nearby quarries and with Snowdonia as a backdrop; this trail is perfect for a breathtakingly-beautiful journey. Enjoy a leisurely cycle from the hustle-and-bustle of the historical town of Caernarfon, to the quieter rural village of Bryncir.

Coed Llandegla Forest – Llandegla

Coed Llandegla Forest has a number of different routes, so is the perfect destination for families with a range of different ages. The green route, built with families in mind, allows everyone to experience off-road cycling, whilst not making it too difficult or dangerous. If you have keen cyclists looking for more of a challenge, there are several more difficult routes.

The Brenig Trail – Denbigh Moores

Mostly running off-road, this route is a great, family-friendly, bike trail. Circumnavigating the Llyn Brenig, this trail runs along the shoreline of the lake, and through forests. An exciting ride with truly spectacular views, this trail is a lovely afternoon activity for all the family.

National Cycle Route 5 – Rhyl to Llanfairfechan

This route runs from Rhyl to Llanfairfechan through towns such as Rhos on Sea, Llandudno and Penmaenmawr. Going along the beautiful coastline, this path has stunning views. If any of your family prefer to walk or require a wheelchair, much of this route is suitable. Plus, when passing through these seaside towns there is many opportunities to stop for a nice cup of tea, or even an ice cream for the kids!

Lon Las Cefni – Anglesey

Lon Las Cefni is one of the best family-friendly cycle routes with most of its 13-mile stretch being flat, and the majority off-road (so no need to worry about traffic!). Considered an easy cycle, this is the perfect opportunity to take in the scenery as you pass through the Newborough Forest, enjoying the peace and quiet.
