Fans of history and culture can’t really go wrong with Oriel Plas Glyn y Weddw. With a picturesque setting on the southern coast of the Llŷn Peninsula, the grade II listed house was built for Lady Elizabeth Love Jones-Parry of Madryn Estate in the mid-nineteenth century to house her art collection.

As well as a typical Gothic exterior, impressive Jacobean exterior and beamed ceilings, the house also features ten gallery spaces showcasing works from Welsh artists and hosts concerts, workshops, craft fairs and activities for the kids throughout the year. The exhibitions change throughout the year so there will always be something new to discover.

Once you’ve had your fill of the arts, you can relax and unwind with tea and scones in Plas Glyn y Weddw’s award-winning tea rooms or pick up some unique jewellery and pieces for the home from the gift shop. Take your pick from cushions, pots, bowls, cups, beads, buttons and much more made by local crafters.

If the weather clears up there are also plenty of pretty woodland walks to be enjoyed in the surrounding area.

Ideal for both kids and adults, Plas Glyn y Weddw goes easy on the budget, too, as entry is free. (Parking is only free for 30 minutes, though, and you’ll most definitely need longer to explore!)
