Head to the northern part of the gorgeous Llyn Peninsula if you are looking for a place to help you get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Here, not far from the town of Pwllheli, you will be able to escape to the sweeping sands of Porth Dinllaen, a long bay that is sheltered from the wind by the headland of Carreg Ddu.
Parts of the coast here are now owned by the National Trust, meaning they are well and truly unspoiled, with lots of the area having escaped development completely. It is the perfect place to get back to nature for a while.
Running along the sea front is the village of Porthdinllaen (from which the beach gets its name) – this area is entirely car-free, making it ideal for families to enjoy without having to worry about road safety.
If you work up an appetite from all your paddling in the shallows and building sand castles, you can fill up at the Ty Coch (“Red House”) inn. Grab a bite to eat and enjoy a pint of local beer as you look out onto the Irish Sea – the views make for the perfect backdrop.

Porth Dafarch Beach
Porth Dafarch is a nicely sheltered beach on the south coast of Anglesey, situated on the coastal road between Holyhead and Trearddur Bay. The surrounding headland makes for the perfect shelter, allowing you to feel like you’re really getting away from it all.
